Dr Saud Ibrahim - Principal Dentist
BDS MSc PG Diploma Oral Implants (University of Sydney)
Graduating from the University of Baghdad in 1989, Saud went on to compete his Masters (Graduating with Distinction) in Restorative and Cosmetic Dentistry in 1996. Never one to shy away from a challenge, Saud followed that by immigrating to New Zealand in 1997. Passing his New Zealand Registration exams was closely followed by purchasing the Chartwell Dental Centre in 2000. He set up Rototuna Dental Centre in 2007.
Happily married to his lovely wife, Saud has four children. In his spare time, he likes to keep fit running & coaching soccer. A keen spectator too, Saud was the “Ground Dentist” for the All Blacks at Waikato Stadium in 2010. Naturally he’s an enthusiastic Chiefs supporter, believing they’re “always the best!” Travelling and cooking are also amongst his favourite things to do.
Ongoing education has continued to be a priority for Saud, enabling him to increase his skill and experience in the many different fields of dentistry. He gained further qualification in 2005, a Post Graduate Diploma in Oral Implants, From the University of Sydney.
Cosmetic and Implant dentistry are areas of interest and expertise for Saud. A very experienced practitioner Saud has a gift for treating children. Add to this his wonderful sense of humour, it’s no wonder he enjoys meeting new people and putting his patients at ease.
Saud is a member of the New Zealand Dental Association, the Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, Endodontic Society & the Australian Osseo-integration Society.
Dr Alan Miller - Dentist
Alan graduated from the dental school of the University of Pretoria in 1985, and was the first recipient of the OralB® medal for outstanding achievement in the field of dental materials. He had the honour of presenting a paper he co-authored at the 1985 International Congress of the IADR (International Association of Dental Research) held in Pretoria.
After completing three years’ service in the South African Medical Corps as a Captain, Alan had a private dental practice in Pietermaritzburg, his birth town, for nine years. He emigrated to New Zealand in 1999 and ran his private practice in Hamilton for 13 years before moving his practice to join the team at Chartwell Dental Centre.
Alan enjoys cosmetic and restorative dentistry and endodontics (root canal treatments). Always one to keep up with modern technology Alan now uses a dental microscope and has an interest in soft tissue laser use and CADCAM computer designed and milled ceramic dental restorations.
Alan is the proud father of two children, a son and a daughter. In his spare time, he enjoys dancing, cycling and mountain biking.
He is also a member of the New Zealand Dental Association and NZ Endodontic Society, and has dental laser use certification from the University of Queensland. Alan is a past Secretary of the Waikato Bay of Plenty Branch of the NZDA and currently still serves on the Executive.
Dr Iden Mahmood - Dentist
Iden likes to keep his mind sharp as his instruments In 2011, he became a fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons (FRACDS), which is the most prestigious professional qualification in general dentistry within this region. Since 2004, following graduation from the University of Baghdad, Iden has been practicing dentistry. He has worked both in public hospitals and private practice, while also having had the privilege of being a senior lecturer in dentistry. In 2017, Iden received the Appreciation Award of the University of Otago for being an exceptional supervisor.
Yet, Iden's practice is not about his accomplishments and experience. Rather, as a patient-centred dentist, Iden is here for You. From the fundamentals, such as sound advice around daily oral hygiene to the complexities of oral surgery, Iden always ensures you are well informed with options that lead to premium care and outcomes that will make you smile. Consequently, Iden's focus is on conservative and preventative dentistry, but he is adept in invisalign, root canals and other treatments and surgeries that may require IV sedation.
Meanwhile, Iden continues to show his commitment to his patients by taking advantage of professional development opportunities in New Zealand and overseas while also being an active member of the New Zealand Dental Association. The eternal optimist, Iden has a great sense of humour and an innate desire to help others. Rebecca Pit - Dental Hygienist
Rebecca graduated from Auckland University of Technology in 2013 with a dual degree in Dental Hygiene and Dental Therapy.
Originally from Hamilton her interest in dentistry began as a child and she became more fascinated in this field as she underwent 3 years of orthodontic work as a teenager. It has expanded in to a great passion which she brings into her practice every day. She believes that prevention is key and will always go the extra mile to help her patients to achieve great oral health.
She likes to live an active lifestyle as well as keeping herself busy. Some of Rebecca’s hobbies include attending music events, playing piano, cooking, surfing, snowboarding, caving and travel!
Dr Suzanne Tonkin - Dentist
Suzanne attended Dunedin’s Otago University and graduated in 2003. She started working in the Chartwell Practice in 2006 and moved to the Rototuna Practice when it was established in 2007.
Suzanne enjoys all aspects of general dentistry from cosmetic work through to the more involved procedures like the oral rehabilitation (crown, bridge, partial dentures and implant restorations). She also enjoys endodontics (root canal treatment), general filling work and preventive measures.
She has an interest in helping people who are fearful and/or phobic about dental treatment to enjoy the benefits of regular dental care. She also enjoys treating children of all ages.
Suzanne was born and bred in the Waikato and is married with two daughters. She has worked exclusively in Hamilton and enjoys her well established practice.
Dr Yvonne Woon - Dentist
Yvonne received her Bachelor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of Otago in 2009. After graduation, she worked in a private practice in Levin providing health care to the Horowhenua and Kapiti district. She continued to hone her dental skills in Palmerston North Before moving to Hamilton.
Yvonne enjoys all aspects of general dentistry and particular interests in preventative and minimal intervention dentistry, cosmetic dentistry and oral surgery. She is a firm believer that if her patients understand their own oral health, they will be able to take control of his/her own oral health and in doing so, improve it. Yvonne understands that being at the dentist is no walk in the park, hence she provides both oral and IV sedation to help ease with anxiety.
Yvonne’s hobbies during her spare hours are painting, traveling, baking and cooking for anyone who is brave enough to try her “inventions”.
Stephanie McDonald - Dental Hygienist
Stephanie graduated from the University of Otago Faculty of Dentistry in 2004 and has been working in Chartwell Dental Centre since 2007. This has allowed her to gain valuable experience in a wide scope of dental hygiene practice.
She strives to help prevent oral disease and enjoys assisting in patients in achieving optimal oral health outcomes. She also helps in improving the appearance of their teeth through stain removal, zoom in-chair whitening and take-home whitening procedures. She keeps herself up-to-date by attending the NZ Dental Hygiene Association conference annually.
Sally Kim - Oral Health Therapist
Sally studied Bachelor of Oral Health at the University of Otago. She enjoys every single day working as an Oral Health Therapist!
She has a passion towards 'prevention' and 'good maintenance' so that dental and gum diseases can be prevented before the need for treatment. She aims to be a 'caring' clinician to provide a positive dental experience to all her patients!
Sally enjoys travelling to places and LOVES to go on missionary trips to Cambodia to help those in need.
