Teeth Alignment with Invisalign®
At our Chatwell and Rototuna Dental Centres, we are proud to offer our clients the option of Invisalign®, one of the fastest growing and most popular orthodontic options available today.
Introduced in 1999 by Align Technologies, Invisalign® incorporates a series of invisible (clear) plastic aligners that fit comfortably over your teeth and are designed to move your teeth gradually into the desired position. Today, Invisalign® is a leading brand of orthodontic appliance, primarily because the removable aligners (less than one millimetre thick) are designed to be more aesthetically pleasing than conventional wire-and-bracket braces for treating certain types of minor misaligned tooth problems.
Invisalign® treatment involves using a series of aligners designed specifically for you that you switch every 14 days or so. The aligner trays made of smooth, comfortable, BPA-free clear plastic are worn over your teeth to subtly and gently move your teeth. Your dentist will use X-rays, pictures, and impressions to create a precise 3-D image of your teeth and to configure your aligner trays accordingly.
If you have any of these conditions, you may be a candidate for orthodontic treatment that doesn't require you to wear braces.
Limited overcrowding - Any surgical or invasive procedure carries risks. Before proceeding with a surgical or invasive procedure, you should seek a second opinion from an appropriately qualified health practitioner. If your teeth are only slightly crooked due to minor overcrowding, you may be able to resolve this using retainers.
Malocclusion - Correcting a bite out of alignment often requires appliances to adjust to the position of your jaw.
Underdeveloped palate or narrow the upper jaw - Widening your palate with the help of expanders will create the space you need for your teeth to move into their correct positions.
Your dentist can ascertain how to straighten your teeth without braces depending on your orthodontic problems. Whichever method you eventually choose, be sure to maintain strict dental hygiene during treatment to ensure that your teeth remain healthy and strong.
